1. About this policy
ETFCheck (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates etfcheck.com.au. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our site, how we use it, and your rights. We do not sell personal information and we do not run advertising.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
If you contact us at hello@etfcheck.com.au, we receive your email address and any information you include in the message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry.
2.2 Information collected automatically
When you visit our site, our hosting infrastructure may log standard server access data including IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used for security monitoring and to diagnose technical issues. It is not linked to personal identifiers for marketing purposes.
2.3 Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics software to understand aggregate usage patterns (e.g. which pages are most visited). Where we use such tools, we configure them to anonymise IP addresses and not to use cross-site tracking or share data with advertising networks.
2.4 Cookies
Our site does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. We may store small items in your browser's local storage to remember your preferences (such as sort order or quiz answers) for your convenience. These are not transmitted to third parties.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and improve the ETFCheck website and tools
- Respond to enquiries sent to us by email
- Monitor for security threats and fix technical errors
- Understand aggregate usage patterns to guide feature development
We do not use your information for targeted advertising. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
4. Data retention
Server access logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging purposes. Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to resolve the matter and comply with our legal obligations. Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
5. Third-party services
ETFCheck data is sourced from publicly available fund provider documents and Yahoo Finance. We do not control Yahoo Finance's data practices. Our site is hosted on infrastructure that may process server access logs. We select providers with appropriate data handling practices.
6. Your rights
If you have provided us with personal information (e.g. via email) and wish to access, correct, or request deletion of that information, please contact us at hello@etfcheck.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information we hold from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Our site is served over HTTPS. We do not store payment or financial account information.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
